Every family received two large boxes of non-perishable food (larger families will get three) and a box of produce and perishable items purchased the day of delivery from local merchants.  Every family gets a turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and a ham for Easter.

We rely on lots of people showing up with the trucks and cars to deliver the food around town.  At 80-110 families, 3-4 boxes each, many drivers are required!  Amazingly, we are usually done within 90 minutes ... the people of Bethel are very supportive and giving of their time.

Food comes to Brotherhood in Action from several sources.  In addition to our own food drives conducted three times a year, we receive a large influx of food from the NALC Stamp Out Hunger drive.  We "shop" at the Connecticut Food Bank several times a month.  And some organizations hold private drives to benefit our organization.  All food is transported and moved by volunteers.

At the end of each of our food drives, volunteers sort all the food received.  First we check dates and remove food that has exceeded its shelf life, then everything is sorted by category and stored.
